We all enjoy the New Year for the fresh start, do over, new hope, new chances, and the new goals we set.
That same fresh start we look forward to, is the same fresh start God wants us to give others. Others meaning our husbands. Oh yes my friend, a fresh start means renewed mercies. Giving mercy, showing grace, allowing your husband to see Christ in you is what a fresh start means for our marriages. In 2015 there were bumps and bruises for each marriage. Some bumps were big, others were small. No matter the size of the bumps or bruises, with God, it is never impossible to forgive and extend mercy. Start 2016 fresh and clean. Repent to each other. Talk about all the old ehhh moments by discussing them in a loving way. Commit yourself to resolving anything from 2015. If there are areas that don’t reach a resolution, commit yourself to prayer over those areas and topics. Whatever your husband has done, pray for the gift of true forgiveness, and the ability to extend new mercies to the one person, on earth, you are to love the most.
As we ask God to forgive us, grant us His mercy, help us throughout 2016, guide our paths, assist us in completing goals… We must repent, forgive, and extend the same mercy we want from the Father. Jesus is your husband’s only hope. Let him see Christ in you.
This week we will be praying through the below scriptures. This will help us exercise our hearts into becoming forgiving and merciful to our husbands. Remember everyday is a chance to practice mercy.
🎉 Psalm 86:5 O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help. (NLT)
🎉 Luke 6:35 …Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for He is kind to those who are unthankful… (NLT)
🎉 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 Love…keeps no record of wrongs. (NIV)
🎉 Ephesians 2:4-5 But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, He gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (NLT)
🎉 Titus 3:5 He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy… (NLT)
